Victorian Gothic Halloween Wedding at Edinburgh’s Prestonfield House, Scotland
You want to see some alternative wedding style? Well, how about a bit of Victorian Gothic for Halloween at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh?
I just love everything about this quirky, tattoo ladened, Pagan derived, Victorian Gothic, Halloween, dark and beautifully styled wedding of Jim & Lisa.
Picked up by Rock N Roll Bride and BuzzFeed for the completely unique look of everything from the wax sealed, bat themed Ouija board invitation boxes complete with vintage photographs of weddings long passed, to the candlelit ceremony in one of Prestonfield House’s lushly decorated drawing rooms.
It’s not as dark as it might sound. Everything was a huge celebration. The Ouija board invited loved ones sadly missed to be part of the wedding, while sunset on Halloween is the date Jim & Lisa celebrate the start of a new year. The imagery was great to photography and has made for a pretty spectacular set of pictures if I do say so myself.
You’ve got to love how fitting the lavish style of Prestonfield House (in the shadow of Edinburgh’s Arthur’s Seat) was to this unique wedding, and a wander around the city’s Old Town by The Royal Mile provided more historic backdrops from it’s World Heritage Site status.
Absolutely love it! Throw away that “How To Plan a Wedding” rule book, do your own thing, follow your heart and what makes you happy. That’s where perfect weddings come from.
