My favourite photographs show why Scotland is the most romantic wedding venue imaginable.
You know, I think you should consider having your wedding in Scotland. For a photographer, the rich textures, ever changing skies and thousands of years of history provide the kind of depth to images that other countries around the world can only dream of.
California may have it’s perfect blue sky, but the photographers there miss out on the light that passes through the layers of cloud, from the fluffy white, to the ominously dark grey. One minute soft and bright, the next minute heavy and brooding. The gentle rain on the horizon caught by a shaft of light on it’s way to feed the lush green landscape of rolling hills. spectacular glens and mountainous, rocky cliffs adorned with the ruins of anything from a farmer’s crow to a Laird’s castle.
Whether it’s the thick pine forests of Speyside, the snow capped mountains of the Cairngorms, or the medieval central of Edinburgh’s old town, Scotland is a photographer’s dream: As countries go, when choosing a romantic wedding venue, Scotland has got to be a favourite.
I’m always happy to share what it is that makes Scotland perfect for a wedding, so drop me a line if you’d like to chat about some of the places, people, venues or suppliers I love to photograph.
